Sankalp Diwas: 160 VHP workers arrested, security tightened in Lucknow
The Police Have Arrested 160 VHP Workers In Lucknow On Friday Morning In A View To Stop Them From Executing The ‘Sankalp Yatra’.
The Police have arrested 160 VHP workers in Lucknow on Friday morning in a bid to stop them from executing the ‘Sankalp Yatra’. Security has been tightened at the railway station in Lucknow in wake of the yatra.
The police officers are searching for the VHP workers in Ayodhya to stop them from carrying out the Yatra.
Earlier, the state government banned the 'Sankalp Diwas' rally to maintain peace and harmony as the rally was being planned on the issue of Ram temple in Ayodhaya.
However, earlier on October 18, restrictions were imposed after inputs from intelligence agencies said that VHP's proposed Yatra might disturb the communal harmony and peace. Prohibitory orders were clamped in entire Faizabad to stop the VHP activists, who plan to launch a 'Panch Kosi Parikrama Yatra'
On the eve of the VHP's 'Sankalp Diwas', the Uttar Pradesh police on Thursday arrested around 340 people, including former BJP MLA LaluSingh, and put 42 others under house arrest in Ayodhya.
"340 people have been arrested, 42 have been placed under house arrest and 39 people have been charged with CrPC Section 107/16," informed IG (law and order) R KVishwakarma.
In this regard Prakash Sharma from VHP was quoted, “People from all over the country are coming, we will take an oath not to rest until the temple is built. Government has tried to dominate its power. The government should answer why they want to stop the Yatra. As VHP has never encouraged any kind of communal feud. Is there no right for Hindus to hold their cultural rallies and In the name of God, people are even ready to die.”
