Separatist Hurriyat Conference seeks United Nations intervention on Kashmir issue
Separatist Hurriyat Conference On Friday Urged United Nations To Intervene On The Kashmir Issue By Asking India To Shun Violence And Initiate The Process Of Providing Right To Self Determination To The Populace Of Jammu And Kashmir.
Separatist Hurriyat Conference on Friday urged United Nations to intervene on the Kashmir issue by asking India to "shun violence" and initiate the process of providing right to self determination to the populace of Jammu and Kashmir.
"Since we believe and understand that Kashmir dispute remains at the centre of the regional conflict, we appeal you to challenge the behaviour of Indian State in Jammu and Kashmir and urge it to stop this reign of terror. "In the interests of regional peace and global justice we once again implore you to intervene and prevail upon the Indian state to shun violence and initiate processes for granting universally recognised Right to Self Determination to the people of Jammu and Kashmir," the separatists said in a memorandum addressed to the UN.
As its proposed march to the local office of the United Nations Military Observers Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) was foiled by authorities by imposing curfew in some parts and restrictions elsewhere, the separatist camp released the memorandum to media outlets here.
