Diamond czar Nirav Modi, his uncle Mehul Choksi, who, the Congress claims were close to Prime Minister Modi, allegedly defrauded the Punjab National Bank by making the fraudulent transactions of over Rs 11,300 crore through 151 letters of understanding.
However, the tax department has estimated that the banks could take a hit of more than USD 3 billion (Around Rs 20,000 Crore) by the PNB bank scam.
