Bihar: 4 dead in stampede at Begusarai's Simaria Ghat during Karthik Purnima celebrations
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar Has Expressed His Grief Over The Incident And Announced Ex-gratia Of Rs. 4 Lakh Each To The Kin Of Those Who Lost Their Lives In Stampede At Begusarai's Simaria Ghat.
At least four people were dead while several others injured in a stampede during Karthik Purnima celebrations at Simaria ghat in Bihar's Begusarai.
Sadar Deputy Superintendent of Police Mithilesh Kumar said the incident occurred in a narrow lane next to the ghat, nearly 100 km from the state capital, where people had gathered in large numbers on the occasion of Karthik Purnima.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has expressed his grief over the incident and announced ex-gratia of Rs. 4 lakh each to the kin of those who lost their lives in stampede at Begusarai's Simaria Ghat. Those injured will be reated free of cost.
RJD Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav said he is "Pained by the death of devotees in Stampede during Karthik Puja celebrations at Simaria Ghat in Bihar's Begusarai. The government should have carefully looked after the crowd management."
