Hemant Gupta, Ajay Rastogi among four new Supreme Court judges sworn in today
The Supreme Court on Friday got four new judges - justices Hemant Gupta, R Subhash Reddy, M R Shah and Ajay Rastogi. With their swearing-in, the number of SC judges has risen to 28.
The swearing-in ceremony of the four new SC judges began at 10:30 am in SC court number 1 with Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi administering the oath of office to them.

On Thursday, the president had given his assent to the Supreme Court Collegium recommendation for elevating Gupta, Reddy, Shah and Rastogi as top court judges.
Justice Gupta was the chief justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court while Justice Reddy was the Gujarat High Court’s chief justice. Justice Shah was the chief justice of the Patna High Court and Justice Rastogi the chief justice of the Tripura High Court. The Supreme Court has a sanctioned strength of 31.
