Fifty-five more people have died of swine flu, raising the toll across the country to 1537 as Manipur reported its first casualty due to the virus, which has affected over 27,000 people.Union Health Ministry data today said that till March 10, as many as 1,537 people have perished due to swine flu while the number of affected people in the country is 27,234.Manipur recorded its first swine flu death as a 35-year-old woman died today, state Health Director O Ibombcha said.Meanwhile three persons have died of the disease in Jharkhand. Health Minister Ramchandra Chandravanshi said the victims had been staying outside the state and had returned to Jharkhand in critical condition.In Gujarat, 353 people have succumbed to the disease and 5,804 people affected while Rajasthan has recorded the highest 354 deaths and the number of affected patients is 6,063.The toll stands at 235 in Maharashtra and 207 in Madhya Pradesh.The number of people affected by the disease continued to see an upward trend in Delhi with the figure touching 3,658.In Punjab the death toll has reached 50, in Telangana 66, Haryana 43, Uttar Pradesh 34 persons, West Bengal 17 and Karnataka 61.Fourteen people have perished in Jammu and Kashmir due to swine flu.
