Officers and search dogs on Sunday morning discovered a small child's body in a culvert near Spring Valley and Bowser roads, less than a mile from the Mathews' home. Sherin disappeared Oct. 7.
A police spokesman told the media that investigators have no reason to believe that the body recovered belongs to any other missing child.

He added that the girl’s parent have been identified.
The Texas Police have arrested Sherin’s father Wesley Mathews on charges of child abandonment and endangerment charges the same day the minor went missing. He is out of jail on bail.

According to reports Mathews and his wife, Sini, had adopted Sherin about two years ago from an orphanage in India.
