In a shocking incident, Union Minister Mahesh Sharma’s security personnel were on Friday caught on camera while thrashing housing society guards in Ghaziabad.
One of the housing guards said, “It took hardly two minutes for us to open the gate and yet minister ji’s security thrashed and abused us.” A housing society official said that they were not happy with the behaviour and would approach the police.
“People of housing society are angry, not the way to behave. We will approach police,” said Pankaj, housing society official.
After the CCTV footage of the incident went viral, the Union Minister apologised to the security guard and the housing authority and has suspended the security personnel who thrashed the guard.
The visuals show the guards at first talking to someone sitting inside the car before being roughly pulled back by Sharma’s security officer.
As Sharma’s entourage moved away, the officer in question is seen pointing a finger at the guard saying something at first. A moment later, he could be seen slapping and thrashing the guard while yelling at him.
Another guard standing next to the man tried to save him from being beaten, but he too was slapped repeatedly in return. After stopping for a while, the security officer also made threatening advances towards the third man standing at the scene. He then came back and slapped the guards again. Other security officers finally stopped him.
Mahesh Sharma is the Minister for Culture and Tourism in the Narendra Modi-led government.
