Upset Over Not Getting Cabinet Berth, Shiv Sena's Abdul Sattar Resigns From Maharashtra Government
Upset over not getting cabinet berth in Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray-led Maharashtra government, Shiv Sena's lone Muslim legislator Abdul Sattar stepped down as Minister of State on Saturday. News Nation has learnt that Abdul Sattar has already sent his resignation to CM Uddhav Thackeray.
However, Shiv Sena has denied the reports of Sattar quitting as MoS. Speaking to media, Rajya Sabha MP Anil Desai said that the reports of Sattar quitting are not correct. "He has not resigned. No such resignations will be accepted."
It is to be noted that as many as 35 lawmakers including NCP’s Ajit Pawar, Shiv Sena’s Aditya Thackeray and Abdul Sattar were inducted in Maharashtra’s Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray-led cabinet on December 30, 2019.
Previously, reports emerged that former CM Prithviraj Chavan, three-time MLA and daughter of former union minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, Praniti Shinde, Sangram Thopate, Amin Patel, and Rohidas Patil were dissatisfied over Maharashtra cabinet expansion. In the meantime, NCP MLA Prakash Solanki announced his resignation stating that he is unfit to do politics.
On the other hand, it was said that Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut was unhappy with the party as his brother Sunil Raut did not get a place in the cabinet expansion.

In the recently concluded Maharashtra elections, the BJP won 105 seats in the 288-member assembly followed by the Shiv Sena (56). The NCP won 54 seats and the Congress had won 44 seats.
