The Utkal Express accident, which took lives of 24 persons in Muzaffarnagar last week, brings a heart-breaking story of a 3-year-old girl, who has separated from her parents.
Soni sits on the hospital bed and cries herself hoarse. This three-year-old baby girl doesn’t even know why she is here, bandaged up on her chest and legs, less who her parents are. But those who got her admitted to Muzaffarnagar hospital can only make a guess – that this hapless girl has seemingly lost her parents to the train mishap the other day that claimed 24 lives in this UP district. And whenever she cries out for her mother, the hospital staff knows they can do little but to attend to her wounds and make her pain that much lesser.
The baby girl has been admitted to a private hospital near Khatauli. But, the location of hospital where her parents have been admitted is yet not known.
Amid the rush at the hospital following the train mishap, Soni could only cry 'Mummy, Mummy'.
The hospital’s administration is constantly searching for the baby’s parents.
The official figure of toll in the Kalinga Utkal Express has reached 24, while 156 passengers have been declared as injured in the accident on Saturday evening when 14 coaches of train were derailed.
