UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath orders probe into Gomti riverfront project
Expressing Dissatisfaction Over The Progress Of The Gomti Riverfront Project, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath Ordered A Probe Into It. Irrigation Minister Dharmpal Singh Told Reporters That The Government Wants To Investigate The Delay In The Project And It Also Wants To Ensure That Sewage Water Is Not Directly Flowed Into The River.
Expressing dissatisfaction over the progress of the Gomti riverfront project, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath ordered a probe into it. Irrigation minister Dharmpal Singh told reporters that the government wants to investigate the delay in the project and it also wants to ensure that sewage water is not directly flowed into the river. CM Adityanath had visited the riverfront on March 27 and had expressed unhappiness that despite the lapse of two years and an expenditure of over Rs 1,427 crore, the work was only 60% complete. "The aim of the project should have been cleaning the water and blocking the drains discharging sewage into the river," Adityanath had said during the inspection.

The dream project of former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav was launched by the Samajwadi Party government for channelisation of the river by constructing a diaphragm wall and by landscaping and constructing intercepting drains on both the banks.
