BSP has fielded the widow of its Karnaprayag candidate Kuldeep Kumar Kaanwasi whose death in a road accident led to postponement of polling in the seat in Uttarakhand to March 9.Karnaprayag seat election officer N Goswami said that Kumar’s wife Jyoti filed her nomination papers on Saturday.The election on the Karnaprayag was postponed by the Election Commission after Kaanwasi died in a road mishap, three days before the state Assembly polls on February 15.As per law, if candidates of recognised party die, it is countermanded and party is given time to field a new candidate and polling fixed for new date.The Election Commission had then fixed March 9 as the date for polling and February 20 as the last date for filing of nomination of the new candidate.
