Uttarakhand liquor ban: SC stays High Court order which directed complete ban from April 1
After SC's Stay On High Court Order, The Sale Of Liquor Will Be Allowed In Rudra Prayag, Chamoli, And Uttarkashi Post-April 1.
Supreme Court on Friday stayed a Nainital High Court order which says the sale, storage, and consumption of liquor will be banned in three districts of ‘Char-Dham’ area from April 1.
After SC's stay on High Court order, the sale of Liquor will be allowed in Rudra Prayag, Chamoli, and Uttarkashi post-April 1.
Earlier, Uttarakhand High Court directed the state government to impose “complete prohibition on the possession, distribution, collection, sale, purchase or consumption of alcohol/liquor including beer and intoxicants in Rudraprayag, Chamoli and Uttarkashi districts, from April 1, in order to raise the level of nutrition and the standard of living in the society.

The Uttrakhand govt moved to Supreme Court seeking removal of the ban as it could dent heavily on state’s revenue.
Apart from these three states, the HC also ordered similar ban Liquor in 5 KM area of Gurudwara Nanakmatta, Reetha Saheb, Hemkund to protect the piousness of these religious places.
