Uttarakhand tragedy: CRPF, MP and MLA's donate salary

Troops of the country's largest paramilitary force CRPF have donated their one day earnings totalling to more than Rs 18 crore for the victims of the Uttarakhand floods.The force will send this money in the Prime Ministers Relief Fund by next week."The CRPF rank and file joins the countrymen in conveying its deepest concern for the victims of the tragedy. Towards this end, the officers and men have decided to donate one day's salary to the Prime Minister's Relief Fund. The amount will be over Rs 18 crore," a statement from the about 3-lakh personnel strong force said.An announcement to this effect was also made by force chief Pranay Sahay.Congress MP donates for Uttarakhand flood victimsCongress MP Ponnam Prabhakar said he will donate Rs 10 lakh for relief work in Uttarakhand which has been hit by a massive natural disaster.The Lok Sabha MP from Karimnagar said he will also donate one month salary for the flash flood victims in the hill state, where a massive relief operation is on.DMK announces Rs 25 lakh to PM's National Relief FundThe DMK announced Rs 25 lakh aid to the Prime Minister's Relief Fund for the people of rain-ravaged Uttarakhand.Party Chief M Karunanidhi also appealed to DMK's elected MPs and MLAs to contribute a month's salary to the relief fund.He said it was "heartening" to see stranded pilgrims from the state being rescued and brought back by Central and state governments.Rajnath asks party workers to donate for Uttarakhand reliefBJP expressed concern over the devastation caused by the floods in Uttarakhand with party president Rajnath Singh asking workers to donate funds for relief to the people affected by the "national calamity".After returning from the affected areas, Singh called for relief work on a large scale. Relief amount is being collected by the party for the "BJP Disaster Relief Fund". He also said special trains should be run to help the stranded people.BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar referred to the proposed foreign trip of Uttarkhand Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna and said it is good that he has cancelled it.Tihar inmates give financial help to Uttarakhand flood victimsA section of prisoners along with Tihar jail staff will donate around Rs 13 lakh for the victims of flood-ravaged Uttarakhand.Tihar Law officer Sunil Gupta said a significant number of prisoners were very "concerned" over the natural calamity in Uttarakhand and have already collected around Rs five lakh for the victims of the devastation."The staff of Tihar has decided to contribute one day's salary for the victims which will be around Rs 7 to 8 lakhs. The prisoners will contribute around Rs five lakh," he said.Gupta said a total amount of around Rs 13 lakh will be handed over to Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit for depositing in the Prime Minister's relief fund for helping the flood victims.
