Prime Minister Narendra Modi who is on a three-day visit to Japan travelled to Kobe on the famous superfast bullet train the Shinkansen on Saturday. Shinkansen’s speed ranges from 240 kms per hour to 320 kms per hour.
“On the way to Kobe with PM @AbeShinzo. We are on board the Shinkansen bullet train,” Prime Minister Modi tweeted along with pictures of him in deep conversation with Abe.
Accompanied by their respective delegations both the leaders boarded the train. Modi and Abe will also visit Kawasaki Heavy Industries facility, where high-speed trains are manufactured.
Shinkansen train's technology is known to be the safest in the world. For most of its journey magnetic levitation train does make contact with the ground, but hovers 10 centimetres above as it's propelled through the air with electrically-charged magnets on either side of the track.
In India Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed rail corridor is a proposed high-speed rail line which remains just a project to be done so far. Its construction will begin in 2018 but when will it get to see day’s light remains to be seen.
