Thousands of people across the globe were unable to use the services of instant messaging app, WhatsApp Messenger, on Thursday evening.
The messaging chat-app owned by Facebook restored it services by 10:40pm. The outage on the popular chat-app comes barely after five days when users complained Facebook down in several parts of the globe.
People taking the social media reported that Whatsapp is facing connectivity issues in some regions.
WhatsApp has over one billion active users across Android, iOS and other platforms. In India alone over 200 million users use the Facebook-owned messaging app.
The Web monitoring tool DownDetector — tracks social comments around a certain topic to monitor outages across the globe — also reported spike in complaints. Going by the complaints, the outage started around 9pm Indian Standard Time.
According to DownDetector, major problems were reported from northern Europe, Brazil and  Mexico. Several users in India were also unable to receive or send messages.
WhatsApp spokesperson told Gadgets 360 that they are aware of the issue and working to resolve it.
