Woman goes into labour on board train in Mumbai, this is what happened next
The 29-year-old Woman Had Gone Into Labour During The Journey. She Delivered The Baby At Platform With The Assistance Of The Passenger Nurse And One Rupee Clinic.
A 29-year-old woman delivered a baby at a platform of Dombivali railway station in Mumbai on Wednesday. Jasmin Shabbir Shaikh, who was nine month pregnant, was travelling from Khadavli to Chhatrapati Shivaji station (Cama Hospital). She went into labour during the journey and was made to deboard at the Dombivali station for delivery.
With the help of a passenger nurse and other travellers present at the station, she delivered a baby boy on platform no 3 at 7.21 am. Later, the woman was taken to the One Rupee Clinic at Dombivali for dressing and suction procedure.
After being initial procedure, the mother and the baby were sent to a local government hospital for further treatment. Her husband and a GRP personnel also accompanied her to the hospital.
Following the delivery, the husband of the woman thanked railway authorities for the help. “We thank railway authorities, staff and doctors for the delivery and treatment,” he said.
This was the 8th such delivery at railway station assisted by the One Rupee clinic. These clinics provide timely medical assistance to passengers at token charge of Re 1. Earlier in April, a 20-year-old woman travelling to Mumbai in a long-distance train had given birth to a baby in the One Rupee Clinic at Thane railway station.
