Woman made to run naked, thrashed for resisting eve-teasing; one arrested
Police Registered A Case Against The Four Miscreants Involved In The Incident And Have Arrested One Of Them.
A woman was stripped naked, chased and beaten up by four men reportedly after she objected to being teased by one of the accused. According to reports, the incident took place in the Raipuri village under Gopiganj police station limits on Saturday evening. The incident was caught on camera and it soon went viral on social media. Later, police registered a case against the four miscreants involved in the incident and have arrested one of them. Circle officer Yadavendra Yadav said they are trying to apprehend others.
"The incident took place in Raipuri village of Gopiganj area of the district on Saturday, when a woman from the weavers' community objected to being teased by one Lal Chandra Yadav. Later, in the evening, Yadav along with his three accomplices forcibly entered her house and badly beat her up. They stripped off her clothes and made to run in the village. Some villagers shot the incident and its video subsequently went viral," the cop said.
He said the woman is undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital. Some media reports claim that Inspector Anil Yadav of Gopiganj police station initially tried to hush up the matter and asked the victim to go home. Meanwhile, the video of the incident went viral following which cops swung into action and managed to arrest one of the accused. Meanwhile, Inspector Anil Yadav has been sent to the police lines.
