Zaira Wasim row: Former JNUSU leader Shehla Rashid defends 'Dangal' actor, slams Vijay Goel
No Kashmiri Child, Neither Zaira Wasim Or Anybody Else, Should Have To Apologise For Who They Are, Or For Making Certain Choices, Said Shehla Rashid.
Strongly objecting to people targeting Kashmiri girl Zaira Wasif for her role in Aamir Khan-starrer 'Dangal', former vice-president of the Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union Shehla Rashid has said no "Kashmiri child should have to apologise for being who they are, or for making certain career choices".
In a series of tweets, Rashid also lashed out at Union minister Vijay Goel for his remarks on veil and comparing it with her struggle.
"Mr. @vijaygoelbjp is disgracing himself by poking his nose where it doesn't belong. RSS's 'feminism' is Durga Vahini, Maya Kodnani, LoveJihad," Rashid tweeted on Friday.
In another tweet, Rashid said: "Kashmiris should understand that Zaira Wasim has not claimed to represent Kashmiris and then backstabbed them, unlike all of our leaders."
The student leader, who also hails from the Kashmir Valley, further said that people who were asking for a boycott of Dangal because Aamir Khan is Muslim have no right to point fingers at Kashmiris over Zaira Wasim.
