A large number of people on Saturday protested outside a police station in Hyderabad where the accused in the rape and murder of 27-year-old veterinary doctor were kept. The protesters demanded to handover the accused to public while some others called for severe punishment. However, the accused have been shifted to Chanchalguda Central Jail.
Police assured the protesters that they will ensure that the accused are convicted and urged the public to cooperate with them. Later, the police resorted to lathicharge in order to disperse the agitators.
Some of the protesters demanded death penalty for the accused. "It is not enough if they are taken to court. They should be handed out the same treatment that they gave to the victim,” a protester said. "If you cannot do it, hand them over to us," PTI quotes a protester as saying.

Hyderabad Police on Friday arrested four accused involved in the alleged rape and murder case of a woman veterinary doctor. The Hyderabad Police has formed 10 teams to investigate the matter. During the initial investigation, police suspected that she was raped before being murdered and burnt.
According to the News Nation source, two people were detained today morning in connection with the case. Earlier on Thursday, the charred body of a 27-year-old veterinarian was found under a culvert, a day after she went missing, police said. Members of victim's family, who had filed a missing complaint after she did not return home by 10.20 pm on Wednesday, identified the body with the help of a locket found near it. (With PTI inputs)
