World Food Day: Most expensive dishes in India that’ll burn a hole in your pocket

Every year 16th of October is marked as World Food Day to honor the date of the founding of the FAO, 1945. And while such organizations of the UN are on a mission to defeat hunger, these insanely expensive dishes are on a mission to defeat ‘money’ itself.Ever encountered a situation where you have to cross-check every item on the menu against its price because of the exorbitant sum? In that case, you can give these food items A Pass because they are very likely to make your wallet curl up in the shell and disappear. From a meal of over 1.5 lakh for two to 1.5 lakh for 30ml of cognac, these most expensive foods are only for those whose pot is overflowing of gold coins:Fancy a 1.5 lakh cognac of 30 ml drink at the Leela Palace?

 The Remy Martin Louis XIII Black Pearl is not exactly a food. But because of its jaw dropping amount, this brandy had to make a mention in this list. Known as one of the rarest brandies, this cognac at the Leela Palace, Delhi costs a whopping sum of INR 1.5 lakh for just 30 ml.

A steak of Rs 8,000

 Another expensive delicacy at the Leela Palace Hotel, this bistecca ‘alla Fiorentina’ which is a grilled Angus T-bone steak that costs a whopping 8000 rupees. The dish is accompanied by a side of creamed spinach, potatoes and black pepper.

Wasabi of Taj, Delhi

 A Japanese dish from the mind of the famous Iron Chef Morimoto, the Wasabi at the Taj consists of a nine-course meal that includes Kobe steak and oysters for Rs 20,000.

 A qube pizza of the Leela Palace Hotel

 A pizza topped with lobster, thyme-scented mascarpone and an ounce of the best Iranian Beluga caviar, this Qube pizza of Leela Palace costs over 9,999 rupees. The pizza is supplemented with a Grey Goose Vodka chaser to enhance the flavour of the lobster.

The Anarkali Butter Chicken

 6000 rupees for a butter chicken? This butter chicken with an over-the-top price, reportedly, took eight years to make. With black olives and coriander garnish this dish recipe is made using Evian natural spring water, Hunt's tomato paste, Filippo Berio olive oil, Godrej chicken and a pack of the Danish Lurpak unsalted butter.

 To maintain the flavour of the chicken, the dish is then packaged in a Borosil glass container and handed out for 6000 rupees.
