Trident Engineering, which manufactures patented tilting wet grinders with capacity ranging from five litres to 40 litres, designed and developed the higher capacity grinder on a request from Yem Foods in Michigan, run by NRI Pradeepan Srinivasan.

Since Yem Foods produces idli, dosa batter in high volumes for the US market, it had given orders for four such grinders, which will be sent to Michigan, with unique design under the ‘Make In India’ programme, he said. 100-litre batter can be made by the machine in an hour without getting get heated while grinding, Selvaraj claimed.
The company had received orders for two 100-litre grinders from Dubai and four from Bengaluru, at a cost of Rs five lakh per grinder, he said, adding 50 per cent of its grinders are exported to around 15 countries.
