United Kingdom, European Union Agree Brexit Deal Ahead Of Crucial EU Summit
The United Kingdom And European Union Have Agreed On A New Brexit Deal Just Hours Before A Crucial EU Summit.
United Kingdom and European Union have agreed a new withdrawal agreement i.e. Brexit deal just hours before crucial summit. British PM Boris Johnson has been in Brussels with EU officials to work out the details of his new proposals for Brexit, including solutions to the Irish border problem.
"We've got a great new deal that takes back control — now Parliament should get Brexit done on Saturday so we can move on to other priorities like the cost of living, the NHS, violent crime and our environment," Johnson tweeted.
Jean-Claude Juncker, the president of the European commission, also confirmed that a deal has been agreed.
However, the deal will still need to be apporved in European and British parliaments.
Johnson may face a problem in getting the deal through parliament as the Democratic Union Party (DUP), who he relies on in the House of Commons, said they would not be supporting the Prime Minister's offer. After Johnson's tweet, the DUP said their earlier statement "still stands", meaning Johnson has no guarantees he will pass his plan in parliament this weekend.
