The number of coronavirus cases in Pakistan on Wednesday surged to 2104 with 26 deaths reported so far. The maximum cases in Pakistan are reported from Punjab province followed by Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, Islamabad and PoK respectively.
According to the Ministry of National Health Services on Wednesday, 105 new patients had tested positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours. The continuous increase in the number of COVID-19 patients in Pakistan is suggestive of the fact that the measures adopted, including partial lockdown, to contain the disease, have a little impact.
The officials in Pakistan have been scrambling to keep the situation under control and have made regular appeals to the public to stay inside their houses.
Earlier, the Imran Khan government had authorised the deployment of troops of Pakistan army in Islamabad Capital Territory, Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Gilgit Baltistan province, PoK to curb the transmission of coronavirus outbreak.
Imran Khan has already announced Rs 1,200 billion package to deal with the economic challenges posed by the coronavirus crisis.
Moreover, reports have also surfaced regarding the discrimination faced by the minority community in Pakistan, who have allegedly been denied ration as coronavirus sweeps across the country.
In the wake of coronavirus pandemic, members belonging to the Hindu and Christian communities claimed that they were being discriminated and accused the government of non-cooperation.
