Earthquake in Fiji: 8.2-magnitude strikes Ndoi Island

An earthquake with a magnitude of 8.2 was recorded in Fiji on Sunday. The nearby location is said to be around 175 mile from Ndoi Island near Fiji and the quake had a depth of around 350 miles.
It is extremely rare that an earthquake of magnitude 8 or higher is recorded at this time of the year. As per the US Geological Survey, only one or two earthquakes of this magnitude are recorded every year.

Meanwhile, no tsunami waves are expected and no hazard is observed in any nearby coastline and there was no immediate information of any major damage.
