France: Fire at Bugey 5 nuclear reactor extinguished, no radiation leak reported

A major incident avoided after a fire that broke out on the roof of a nuclear reactor at the Bugey plant in central-eastern France has been extinguished, operator EDF said on Monday.
The fire broke out at the plant's nuclear reactor number 5, near the French city of Lyon, nuclear regulator ASN said earlier in a statement.
However, there were no casualties reported due to the fire and the safety body IRSN said the plant is safe of any radiation danger.
There were no injuries or fatalities, said EDF in a separate statement. Nuclear safety body IRSN said that sensors had not picked up any increase in radiation, therefore, the nuclear reactor is safe.
