A mild tremor measuring 5 on the Richter scale today struck Nepal’s western region. According to the National Seismological Centre, the tremor was recorded at 5.32 am (local time) in the region.
The epicenter was located at Kalikot district, 600 km west of Kathmandu. Earlier a 4.2 magnitude earthquake was recorded at Bajhang district in western Nepal on April 30.
A total of 451 aftershocks measuring 4 or more magnitude were recorded in central Nepal after the devastating earthquake that hit Kathmandu and other districts of central Nepal in April last year. However, the Kalikot earthquake is not an aftershock, rather it is known as fresh tremor.
