Nepal: Five Indian workers injured in Jagadamba steel plant explosion
Five Indian workers were injured in an industrial blast in the town of Pipara Simara in Nepal’s Bara district on Wednesday morning, police said.
“Five Indian workers were injured in an explosion that occurred while they were melting metal inside the Jagadamba Steels Factory here in Simara,” Police Inspector Subash Hamal said.
According to an official, all the injured persons were working as daily wage labourers at the iron plant, adding, the incident occurred likely due to excessive heat in the run-down furnace.

The injured workers, hailing from Bihar, have been identified as Kamalesh Raya, Naresh Sahani, Sandeep Kumar, Pankaj Kumar and Binayak Singh. All the critically injured workers are undergoing treatment at the Birgunj-based Health care Hospital, police said.
Binayak Singh, who suffered minor injuries from the blast, is getting treatment at Tara Hospital, they said.
According to reports, most of the equipment being used in the plant were never repair and in sorry state. Moreover, due to lack of regular maintenance and repairing system, similar incidents had been occurred frequently.

Nine persons were killed and more than a dozen injured when a tank used to store molasses exploded in Bidyanagar of Bara four months ago, sources said.
“Factories show the maintenance of equipment only in paper,” a worker said, adding, “But they never repair the equipment.”
Over the years, industries have started to flourish in Pathliya-Birgunj Industrial Corridor and more than 500 factories are being operated in Parsa and Bara districts.
