No bikini rounds for future Miss World competitions!
Julia Morley, The Chairwoman Of Miss World Has Announced That Next Year Onwards There Would Be No Swimsuit Round.
For the first time in 63 years, Miss World pageant has decided to ditch the swimsuit round from its competition from 2015.
Julia Morley, the chairwoman of Miss World has announced that next year onwards there would be no swimsuit round.
The Miss World pageant is trying to keep up with its theme of ‘beauty with a purpose’ and Morley feels bikini round does not serve any purpose.
“I really don’t want, I don’t need to see women just walking up and down in bikinis. It doesn’t do anything for the woman. And it doesn’t do anything for any of us,” Morley, 74, told Elle magazine.
Eric Morley started the Miss World competition in 1951 and over the year it has come to represent 120 countries.
Rolene Strauss, 22, of South Africa became the 64th Miss World recently. She would be the last beauty queen to feature in the bikini round.
