Brazilian Scientists Have Identified The Fossil Of The Largest Dinosaur Ever Discovered In The Country, Measuring An Incredible 25 Meters Long.
Brazilian scientists have identified the fossil of the largest dinosaur ever discovered in the country, measuring an incredible 25 meters long.
The dinosaur, named “Austroposeidon magnificus,” belonged to the group of titanosaurs, which had a well-developed body.
Titanosaurs had a long neck and tail and a relatively small skull, according to scientists at Rio de Janeiro’s Earth Sciences Museum.
The researchers believe that these dinosaurs lived during the Cretaceous Period, about 145-66 million years ago, in regions that are currently part of South America, Africa, Antarctica and Oceania.
Fossilised vertebrae of the dinosaur was discovered in the 1950s by Brazilian paleontologist Llewellyn Ivor Price, Xinhua news agency reported.
Since then, the fossil had been analysed and studied until the discovery was finally announced this week.
