Malaysia’s top Islamic State operative has been killed in an attack in Syria last month, country’s police chief said.The operative, Muhammad Wanndy Mohamed Jedi, 26 was allegedly responsible for a grenade blast at a bar in a suburb outside Kuala Lumpur in June 2016 that injured eight people.Intelligence had obtained that Muhammad Wanndy died in an attack in Raqqa, Syria, on April 29, Inspector General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar said. However, he didn’t give more details.

Born in the southern state of Malacca, he left for Syria with his wife in 2014. The US Treasury Department also listed him under the list of global militants in March.Around 250 suspected militants over the last three years have been detained in Malaysia, including the ones allegedly planning attacks.
