At least 10 people killed and 15 others were injured after a 25-year-old man "deliberately" drove a van into pedestrians along a sidewalk in Toronto late Monday night, police said.
It was not immediately clear what caused the van to strike the pedestrians in a busy intersection in the north-central part of the city but Toronto Police Chief Mark Saunders said that the incident was not an accident but a "deliberate attack".
"The actions definitely looked deliberate," the Toronto Police Chief told journalists."
Toronto paramedic spokeswoman Kim McKinnon said first responders were on scene treating multiple patients and some of the injured were in critical condition.
