US President Donald Trump congratulated Boris Johnson on Friday for his thumping win in the UK elections. Taking to Twitter, Trump expressed that US and UK are now free to strike a ‘massive’ trade deal. Earlier, Trump had visited UK to attend a NATO summit where he had praised Johnson and called him, “very capable”, leader. Although, Trump refrained from commenting on the poll. Moreover, with a thumping victory, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is all set to return to Downing Street as Conservatives have won an overall majority in the UK general election.
The Tories crossed the 326-seat threshold with results on several seats still pending. The return of Boris Johnson is likely to end the uncertainty over Brexit and will help him take the UK out of the European Union.
Buoyed by the results, 55-year-old Johnson said that the victory would give him a mandate to "get Brexit done" and take the UK out of the EU next month.
After getting the majority, Johnson’s party is headed towards the biggest win for a Conservative leader since Margaret Thatcher in 1987.
