At least 10 people were killed and as many as 80 others injured as multiple blasts hit two churches in Sri Lanka during Easter services on Sunday. The explosions occurred at around 8:45 am (local time) when worshipers were attending Easter services, PTI quoted police spokesman Ruwan Gunasekera as saying. The number of casualities was likely to soar furtehr as hospital officials said that more injured were being admitted.
"Eighty people have already been admitted, and more are still coming in," an official at the Colombo National Hospital told AFP news agency on condition of anonymity.
While one blast hit St Anthony's Church in Kochchikade of the Sri Lankan capital Colombo, while the second blast hit St Sebasitian’s Church in Katuwapitiutya, according to local media reports.
"A bomb attack to our church, please come and help if your family members are there,” St Sebasitian’s Church at Katuwapitiutya, in the Western coastal town of Negombo, wrote in an SOS post on Facebook.
Meanwhile, local media reports quoting police sources said that the blasts also took place at two five star hotels in Fort and several casualities, including foreign nationals, were feared.
