Border Security Forces opened fire after suspected infiltration at Chakri post of Gurdaspur in the wee hours of Monday morning, Punjab sector, Anil Paliwal, Inspector General, BSF said. 

Later, a spokesman of the BSF said the personnel weredeployed on the Chakkri Border Out Post (BOP) in Gurdaspursector when they saw some suspicious movement across theborder and fired four shots in the air.

However, it was found that the movement was that of stray animals, BSF said. However, there was no cross fire from the Pakistani Rangers, he said.

The shooting comes hours after suicide attack on Army and BSF camps in Baramulla on Sunday night. The attack, which left two terrorist dead and one BSF jawan martyred, was carried out exactly a fortnight after the Uri attack. 

Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday discussed and reviewed security situation with NSA Ajit Doval, reports said.
