New Delhi:

HTC slashed the price of the HTC 10 smartphone by Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 47,990 in the Indian market.

HTC had unveiled its flagship smartphone 'HTC 10' for Indian markets in May this year. The company launched the smartphone with a marketing strategy of countering the direct competition from Samsung's flagship 'Galaxy' phones.

The phone was rationally priced at Rs. 52,990 bearing in mind the price levels of smartphones in its category. The Taiwanese company slashed the price of the smartphone by Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 47,990, effective from October 9.

While the company has attributed the price cut as an offer for the festive season, it has not specified if it is a limited period offer effectively making it a price cut. HTC recently announced that HTC 10 will be the first set of smartphones to be enabled with the Android 7.0 Nougat update.

The HTC 10 is expected to get the Nougat sometime in the fourth quarter this year. The premium phone sports a 5.2-inch Quad HD (1440x2560 pixels) display and is powered by quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor coupled with 4GB of RAM. In terms of optics, the smartphone packs a 12-UltraPixel primary camera on the rear and a 5-megapixel at the front. The smartphone houses a 3000mAh non-removable battery.
