Srinagar :
After various instances of burning coming at various places in Jammu and Kashmir, government teachers in Srinagar are directed to do night shift at schools for the safety of the institutions.
Teachers in the sensitive valley city have been facing multiple burning incidents. Ever since the killing of Burhan Wani, at least 29 schools have been thrown to flames under mysterious circumstances. After which teachers in the valley are told patrol their respective schools.
Chief Education Officer (CEO) of Srinagar, Arif Iqbal Malik issued a directive which asked teachers to take turns and work in shifts to protect their schools- even at night. The directive marks the instructions mandatory with regard to protection of schools after a high-level meeting conducted by Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Baseer Khan.

The order issued to 1,015 schools asks teachers to ensure that a watchman is present in the school for all the time and if in any case no watchman is available, the task should be assigned to other staff member to the school organisation to ensure intact safety. Â
However, Srinagar CEO Malik has denied having told schools to engage women teachers for the job.
