Mahindra XEV 9S Vs Kia Carens Clavis EV: Mahindra has just launched the XEV 9S, its latest all-electric 7-seater SUV, with a starting price of Rs 19.95 lakh (ex-showroom). Available in six variants, the XEV 9S goes up against the Kia Carens Clavis EV. Here’s how the two electric 7-seaters compare in terms of price, features and specifications.

Features

The Mahindra XEV 9S comes loaded with features like sunshades, ventilated second-row seats, sliding and recline adjustment, and powered Boss Mode. The cabin feels peaceful, thanks to acoustic-laminated glass. For enhanced convenience, there is the "LiveYourMood" interface, translucent door inserts, and wireless charging. Other features include three large screens, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon system with Dolby Atmos, integrated apps, smart climate Camp Mode, ambient lighting, and 5G connectivity.

The Kia Carens Clavis EV, on the other hand, offers an 8-speaker Bose audio system and a 26.62-inch dual panoramic display that integrates driver information and infotainment. Other features include a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, Smart Pure Air Purifier with AQI display, a powered driver's seat, ventilated front seats, a premium Jabara cover, retractable cup holders, a floating centre console, and 64-colour ambient lighting with footwell lamps.

Battery

Mahindra is offering the XEV 9S with three battery pack options - 59 kWh, 70 kWh, and 79 kWh - delivering a peak output of 170 kW, 180 kW, and 210 kW, respectively.

The Kia Carens Clavis EV comes with two battery options: a 42 kWh pack and a 51.4 kWh pack. These are paired with motors producing 99 kW and 126 kW, respectively, with a claimed torque of 255 Nm. In terms of range, the 42 kWh battery offers an ARAI-certified 404 km, while the larger 51.4 kWh pack can cover up to 490 km.
