New Delhi:

Petrol Friday crossed the Rs 83 mark in Delhi as a dip in the value of rupee and rise in international oil prices pushed rates across India to record highs.

On September 28, petrol prices were hiked by 22 paise per litre and diesel by 18 paise in the national capital, according to a price notification by state-owned oil firms. The latest hike pushed petrol price in Delhi to Rs 83.22 per litre and diesel to Rs 74.42.

In Mumbai, petrol is heading towards century mark for the first time ever. The fuel now costs Rs 90.57 at Indian Oil Corp (IOC) outlets in the city while diesel is retailing at Rs 79.01 per litre in the financial capital on Friday. Hence, there was a surge of Rs 0.22 and Rs 0.19 in petrol and diesel prices respectively in Mumbai.
