New Delhi:
CBI on Friday carried out a surprise check at the trade tax office of the Delhi Government suspecting issuance of undervalued challans by the officials of the department.
With the Delhi Government's vigilance department team, the agency sleuths reached trade tax office at ITO. CBI sources said the agency demanded files and ledgers related to challans issued at the Trade tax office and inspected them.
They said the action was result of suspicion that some officers are allegedly issuing undervalued challans which were making a dent in the exchequer.
When contacted, CBI spokesperson termed it a routine check to ensure that no undervaluation is going on.
