Sampark for Samarthan: Amit Shah meets Ramdev, former CJI Ramesh Chandra Lahoti

New Delhi:

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah on Monday met yoga guru and Patanjali co-founder Baba Ramdev and informed him about the achievements of Narendra Modi-led NDA government over the last four years. The BJP chief is seeking support for his party ahead of 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

BJP leader Ram Lal was also present at the meeting and it was a part of BJP's 'Sampark for Samarthan' campaign to generate awareness about Modi government's achievments across the world. The meeting took place at Ramdev's Patanjali Ashram in Delhi.

"I met yoga guru Swami Ramdev as part of 'Sampark for Samarthan' programme and informed him about the Narendra Modi-led government's achievements and public welfare policies in its four years of rule," Amit Shah wrote in a tweet.

Later in the day, Shah also met former Chief Justice of India Ramesh Chandra Lahoti as part of the campaign. "As a part of 'Sampark For Samarthan' initiative met former Honorable Chief Justice of India Shri R C Lahoti ji at his residence and brief him on the historic steps and achievements of PM Narendra Modi's government in last 4 years," Shah tweeted after meeting Lahoti.

The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government has completed its fourth year on May 26 and launched a mega public drive - 'Sampark for Samarthan' to mark the anniversary of the Modi government.

During the mega public drive, 4,000 BJP functionaries will contact one lakh people, who are well-known names in their fields, to spread the word about their achievements in the last four year. Shah will himself contact 50 persons to increase awarness across the globe, according to souces closed to the party.

Following the lauch of 'Sampark for Samarthan', Shah had also met former Army chief Dalbir Singh Suhag and Subhash Kashyap on May 29. He also met cricket legend Kapil Dev later.

Shah had earlier said that the campaign was aimed at informing people about various government initiatives, which have resulted in lifting people's living standards as a lot of work had been done to remove the problems people faced in villages and to help the poor live a better life.
