Alia Bhatt has been approached to play the lead in the much-awaited Dostana sequel.
Karan Johar’s Kalank is undoubtedly one of the most-anticipated films of the year. The film boasts a stellar cast including Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Madhuri Dixit, Sonakshi Sinha, Sanjay Dutt and Aditya Roy Kapur in prominent roles. While Alia has a kitty full of projects in the new year, rumour mills are churning out that the actress has been approached to play the lead in the much-awaited Dostana sequel.
Karan Johar’s 2008 rom-com, which starred John Abraham, Abhishek Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra in the lead roles was given a green signal by the filmmaker last year. Since then, there have been several speculations regarding the star cast. With a twist in the star cast, Dostana 2 will be reportedly featuring Alia Bhatt at the apex.
As per a report in Mumbai Mirror, "The conversation has begun, and Alia has liked the idea. She will hear the final script and close the formalities soon. Casting for her two male co-stars is presently underway after which Karan will make the final announcement. Preproduction on the film has also begun," says a source close to the development.
Meanwhile, Alia Bhatt will be seen in KJo’s productions Kalank, Brahmastra and Takht.
On the work front, Alia Bhatt is currently busy with the promotions of Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy co-starring Ranveer Singh.
