Farhan Akhtar gives a green signal to 'Mirzapur' season 2 (Instagrammed photo)
New Delhi :
Kaleen Bhaiya’s Mirzapur is not just violent but has turned into an overnight success. With season one brimming high with success, the expectations of season two are touching the sky. However, to clear the air and give a green signal to the bunch load of excitement and more thriller, producer Farhan Akhtar has revealed that the makers are already working on the second season of Mirzapur.
Farhan was present at the success party of Mirzapur, along with actors Rasika Dugal, Elli AvRam, Pankaj Tripathi, Anangsha Biswas, Richa Tripathi, Shriya Pilgaonkar and Ali Fazal on Wednesday in Mumbai, where he interacted with the media.
Mirzapur, raw and stony, literally runs on ‘gun-point’. With versatile and brilliant actors playing their perfect parts, Karan Anshuman's directorial gives you a chill down the spine. A well-carpeted gun mafia runs exceptionally smooth in the violence-driven town of Mirzapur, where guns galore: country-made, large rifles, AK47s, pistols, unlicensed and official, are available as easily as toffees! Everything camouflaged beneath a carpet industry, plaguing the small town, under the monarchy of Akhandanand Tripathi aka Kaleen Bhaiya (Pankaj Tripathi).
The Bhaag Milkha Bhaag actor said, as quoted by News18, "I am feeling really happy. It's the second show which we have created with Amazon Prime Video. Our earlier collaboration 'Inside Edge' was a successful web series and now 'Mirzapur' is getting more success than that. So it is really nice thing and we are here to celebrate."
When probed whether the makers plan to create the second season of the show, he responded with an obvious yes. He said, “Yes, of course. At the end of the show, viewers might have got an idea that there is scope for season 2. So, we are working on that. Hopefully, very soon we will start shooting for it."
"Apart from that, they have appreciated the drama and performances of the actors. The kind of world we have created in this show, once someone watches one episode, then they feel curious to know what happens in the subsequent episodes. That kind of a feeling among the audience is always nice to have for a web series."
Mirzapur is the third Amazon Prime Originals made in India. It is directed by Karan Anshuman and Gurmmeet Singh.
