Parents of a 24-year-old Kerala doctor, whose marriage with a Muslim youth believed to be possible case of ‘love jihad’, has lodged a complaint with the local police against an activist who released a video showing the woman arguing with her mother over religious beliefs.
Hadiya Jahan’s father Akhila Ashokan, an ex-serviceman, said to the media after lodging a complaint that the video released by Rahul Eswar, an activist, gave a wrong picture that his daughter continued to live as a Muslim.
The complaint was lodged by Ashokan at Vaikkom police station in Kerala’s Kottayam district after a video was aired by two national channels in which Hadiya was seen arguing with her mother on her choice for faith.
Earlier, the Kerala High Court had sent Hadiya, was born Akhila Ashokan before she converted, back to her father’s house after Ashokan lodged a complaint alleging that his daughter was forced to convert to Islam after marriage and a case of ‘love jihad’. Last Week Supreme Court annulled Hadiya’s marriage with Shafin Jahan and directed the NIA to probe the allegations.
According to the complaint, he has mentioned that Rahul exploited the situation.
“He cheated us. He took the video without our knowledge and the way video is presented is not correct,” Ashokan said.
Ashokan added that his family gave him consideration as he was grandson of the main priest.

Ashokan added, “Rahul had said he is taking selfies for his personal use and assured us they won’t be made public. Trusting our breach he handed over the photos and video to the media a day after.” said the father.
Rahul has denied the allegations. He said that the video was shot with the knowledge and consent of the family to the media.
