New Delhi:
With rescue operations in their last leg in the flood-ravaged Uttarakhand, the Met office has forecasted another furious spell of rains from Thursday onwards. According to the Met, this spell would be similar to the June 16-17 deluge.
The New Delhi Met Department has said that heavy rains will pound the State from July 4-7. The seven-day forecast says the rains are expected to peak on July 5 and 6, when the "rainfall maximum" will be centred over Uttarakhand.
A total of 1,350 people have been evacuated from Badrinath while over 3,500 remain untraced. Meanwhile, a UN agency with some NGO has estimated that the number of missing could be over 11,000.
