Suresh Prabhu says number of accidents gone down during his tenure

New Delhi:

Former Railway minister Suresh Prabhu on Sunday said that number of accidents has gone down during the last three years ever since he assumed the office, but a single accident is painful and he took the moral responsibility of it.

While speaking on Piyush Goyal as his successor, Prabhu said the former is like younger brother to him and Goyal will bring a new thinking and would be successful.

He rubbished the talk of his demotion in the Cabinet reshuffle, saying he looks at his new task as an opportunity to ensure rapid economic growth of the country. Noting that his new assignment is his ninth as a Cabinet minister, Prabhu said every task is equally important.

Earlier in the day, he indicated his exit through social media. He tweeted, "Thanks to all 13 Lacs+ rail family for their support, love, goodwill. I will always cherish these memories with me. Wishing you all a great life."

In the reshuffle of the Council of Ministers, Prabhu was shifted from the Railways to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, while Goyal was made the Railway Minister and also given the task of handling the Coal portfolio as well.
