Days after a food vis-a-vis religion wrangle involving one of its customers took the Internet by storm, a fresh controversy hit Zomato on Sunday. Yes! Both Hindu and Muslim delivery boys from the famous food aggregator app will reportedly go on a strike from Monday protesting that some items being delivered by them are hurting their religious sentiments.
Earlier, the delivery executives had allegedly reached out to Zomato higher authorities demanding that they be not forced to deliver such foods which is beyond their religious acceptable guidelines. However, there is no response from the company's side till the time.
Speaking to the media, a delivery boy in Howrah said, "The company is not listening to our demands and forcing us to deliver beef and pork against our will. We have been on strike for a week now". Other demands of Zomato food delivery boys are that the company should revise the solve the pay out issues and provide least medical facilities.

Meanwhile, Rajib Banerjee, the West Bengal Minister and Trinamool Congress MLA from Howrah, has responded to the issue and assured to initiate a probe into the same.
"The company should not force any section to go against the rules of their religion. This is very wrong. We had no idea about such actions. Since we have been approached, we shall surely take action against such deeds," Banerjee was quoted as saying.
In late July, Zomato was hitting headlines after a customer named Amit Shukla cancelled his order because the company assigned a Muslim executive to deliver the same. Shukla took the matter to Twitter which recieved wide condemnations from across the country.

Zomato too refused to resolve the matter, saying "food does not have a religion". "Food doesn’t have a religion. It is a religion," the company tweeted in response to Shukla's request for change of the rider.
