The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) beat Delhi Daredevils (DD) by 15 runs at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Wednesday thanks to a power-packed batting display by its top batting order. The SRH set a massive 192-run target for the visitors losing just four wickets in the process.
Kane Williamson and Shikhar Dhawan set the tone of the match right during the initial stages after the home team lost their captain David Warner early in the innings.
The New Zealander, playing his first Indian Premier League (IPL) match, took the Delhi bowling attack by storm as he scored 89 runs in just 51 balls with the help of five towering sixes and six boundaries.
Opener Shikhar Dhawan too scored a comeback fifty. Dhawan scored 70 off 50 balls.
The massive total proved unsurmountable for Delhi as it suffered dismissals on regular intervals. However, brave display from Sanju Samsam, Shreyas Iyer and Karun Nair kept their hopes alive till the 14th over. After that, the team succumbed to the sky-high asking rate.
