Beti bachao from BJP leaders: Rahul Gandhi taunts PM Modi over MJ Akbar episode
Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the MJ Akbar episode, saying his “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” slogan should be changed to “Beti Padhao, BJP ke netaon se (save the daughter from BJP leaders).
Addressing a public rally in poll-bound Madhya Pradesh’s Sheopur district, the Congress president said, “Modiji had given a good slogan Beti Bachao Beti Padhao. Narendra Modi’s minister is questioned. A BJP MLA in Uttar Pradesh commits rape but the prime minister does not utter a word.”
The Gandhi scion was referring to the recent allegations of sexual harassment against junior External Affairs Minister MJ Akbar in the #MeToo movement and accusations of rape against a sitting BJP lawmaker in Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao.

The Congress chief said the “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” slogan should be changed to “Beti Padhao BJP ke netaonse, mantrionse, MLAs se beti bachao (save the daughter from BJP leaders, ministers and MLAs).
