Back in 2017, Toyota and Maruti Suzuki officially confirmed that both the Japanese automobile manufacturers had agreed to make an alliance in areas including environmental, information and safety technologies and mutual supply of products and components. The very first product of the partrnership i.e Toyota Glanza is all set to be launched on 6 June this year.
Notably, Toyoto on Friday released yet another teaser video which reveals the face of the Glanza. In the teaser video, the Glanza looks identical to the Maruti Suzuki Baleno facelift on the outside, however, it has got a new chrome-lined grille. The car even wears the same alloy wheels as the Baleno. At the back, the only changes are the addition of the Toyota and Glanza badges and the variant logo.
Also, the interior of the Toyota Glanza is almost exactly the same as that of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno facelift. From the dashboard and steering wheel to 7.0-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system, the Glanza is practically the same as the Baleno. The only difference comes as the Toyota's badges.
As far as the Toyota Glanza’s engine options are concerned, the car will be powered by the 1.2-litre and four-cylinder K12 petrol engine which powers the Maruti Suzuki Baleno. Toyota could also offer its 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that is tuned to make 79 bhp and 104 Nm torque. The Toyota Glanza will get a 5-speed manual gearbox as well as the option of a CVT.
The V variant is likely be the top-spec model based on the Baleno's Alpha trim level and below it will have a G variant based on the Baleno Zeta. The Toyota Glanza is expected to be offered with three-years / 100,000 km warranty.
